Surah As-Saff in Arabic and English

1. 1 As-Saff 61:1

   سَبَّحَ لِلّٰهِ مَا فِي السَّمٰوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْاَرْضِۚ وَهُوَ الْعَزٖيزُ الْحَكٖيمُ

   Transliteration

   Sabbaḥa lillāhi mā fee alssamāwāti wamā fee alarḏi wahuwa alʿazeezu alḥakeemu

   Translation

   Whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth exalts Allah, and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.

2. 2 As-Saff 61:2

   يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا لِمَ تَقُولُونَ مَا لَا تَفْعَلُونَ

   Transliteration

   Yā ayyuhā allatheena āmanoo lima taqooloona mā lā tafʿaloona

   Translation

   O you who have believed, why do you say what you do not do?

3. 3 As-Saff 61:3

   كَبُرَ مَقْتًا عِنْدَ اللّٰهِ اَنْ تَقُولُوا مَا لَا تَفْعَلُونَ

   Transliteration

   Kabura maqtan ʿinda Allāhi an taqooloo mā lā tafʿaloona

   Translation

   Great is hatred in the sight of Allah that you say what you do not do.

4. 4 As-Saff 61:4

   اِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الَّذٖينَ يُقَاتِلُونَ فٖى سَبٖيلِهٖ صَفًّا كَاَنَّهُمْ بُنْيَانٌ مَرْصُوصٌ

   Transliteration

   Inna Allāha yuḥibbu allatheena yuqātiloona fee sabeelihi ṣaffan kaannahum bunyānun marṣooṣun

   Translation

   Indeed, Allah loves those who fight in His cause in a row as though they are a [single] structure joined firmly.

5. 5 As-Saff 61:5

   وَاِذْ قَالَ مُوسٰى لِقَوْمِهٖ يَا قَوْمِ لِمَ تُؤْذُونَنٖي وَقَدْ تَعْلَمُونَ اَنّٖي رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ اِلَيْكُمْؕ فَلَمَّا زَاغُٓوا اَزَاغَ اللّٰهُ قُلُوبَهُمْؕ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الْفَاسِقٖينَ

   Transliteration

   Waith qāla moosā liqawmihi yā qawmi lima tuthoonanee waqad taʿlamoona annee rasoolu Allāhi ilaykum falammā zāghoo azāgha Allāhu quloobahum waAllāhu lā yahdee alqawma alfāsiqeena

   Translation

   And [mention, O Muhammad], when Moses said to his people, "O my people, why do you harm me while you certainly know that I am the messenger of Allah to you?" And when they deviated, Allah caused their hearts to deviate. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people.

6. 6 As-Saff 61:6

   وَاِذْ قَالَ عٖيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ يَا بَنٖٓى اِسْرَٓاءٖيلَ اِنّٖى رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ اِلَيْكُمْ مُصَدِّقًا لِمَا بَيْنَ يَدَىَّ مِنَ التَّوْرٰيةِ وَمُبَشِّرًا بِرَسُولٍ يَاْتٖى مِنْ بَعْدِى اسْمُهُٓ اَحْمَدُۜ فَلَمَّا جَٓاءَهُمْ بِالْبَيِّنَاتِ قَالُوا هٰذَا سِحْرٌ مُبٖينٌ

   Transliteration

   Waith qāla ʿeesā ibnu maryama yā banee isrāeela innee rasoolu Allāhi ilaykum muṣaddiqan limā bayna yadayya mina alttawrāti wamubashshiran birasoolin yatee min baʿdee ismuhu aḥmadu falammā jāahum bialbayyināti qāloo hāthā siḥrun mubeenun

   Translation

   And [mention] when Jesus, the son of Mary, said, "O children of Israel, indeed I am the messenger of Allah to you confirming what came before me of the Torah and bringing good tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name is Ahmad." But when he came to them with clear evidences, they said, "This is obvious magic."

7. 7 As-Saff 61:7

   وَمَنْ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ افْتَرٰى عَلَى اللّٰهِ الْكَذِبَ وَهُوَ يُدْعٰٓى اِلَى الْاِسْلَامِؕ وَاللّٰهُ لَا يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمٖينَ

   Transliteration

   Waman athlamu mimmani iftarā ʿalā Allāhi alkathiba wahuwa yudʿā ilā alislāmi waAllāhu lā yahdee alqawma alththālimeena

   Translation

   And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah untruth while he is being invited to Islam. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people.

8. 8 As-Saff 61:8

   يُرٖيدُونَ لِيُطْفِؤُ۫ا نُورَ اللّٰهِ بِاَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَاللّٰهُ مُتِمُّ نُورِهٖ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْكَافِرُونَ

   Transliteration

   Yureedoona liyuṭfioo noora Allāhi biafwāhihim waAllāhu mutimmu noorihi walaw kariha alkāfiroona

   Translation

   They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah will perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it.

9. 9 As-Saff 61:9

   هُوَ الَّـذٖٓي اَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُ بِالْهُدٰى وَدٖينِ الْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدّٖينِ كُلِّهٖ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُونَࣖ

   Transliteration

   Huwa allathee arsala rasoolahu bialhudā wadeeni alḥaqqi liyuthhirahu ʿalā alddeeni kullihi walaw kariha almushrikoona

   Translation

   It is He who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although those who associate others with Allah dislike it.

10. 10 As-Saff 61:10

    يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا هَلْ اَدُلُّكُمْ عَلٰى تِجَارَةٍ تُنْجٖيكُمْ مِنْ عَذَابٍ اَلٖيمٍ

    Transliteration

    Yā ayyuhā allatheena āmanoo hal adullukum ʿalā tijāratin tunjeekum min ʿathābin aleemin

    Translation

    O you who have believed, shall I guide you to a transaction that will save you from a painful punishment?

11. 11 As-Saff 61:11

    تُـؤْمِنُونَ بِاللّٰهِ وَرَسُولِهٖ وَتُجَاهِدُونَ فٖي سَبٖيلِ اللّٰهِ بِاَمْوَالِكُمْ وَاَنْفُسِكُمْؕ ذٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Tuminoona biAllāhi warasoolihi watujāhidoona fee sabeeli Allāhi biamwālikum waanfusikum thālikum khayrun lakum in kuntum taʿlamoona

    Translation

    [It is that] you believe in Allah and His Messenger and strive in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives. That is best for you, if you should know.

12. 12 As-Saff 61:12

    يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ ذُنُوبَكُمْ وَيُدْخِلْكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ تَجْرٖي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُ وَمَسَا كِنَ طَيِّبَةً فٖي جَنَّاتِ عَدْنٍؕ ذٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظٖيمُۙ

    Transliteration

    Yaghfir lakum thunoobakum wayudkhilkum jannātin tajree min taḥtihā alanhāru wamasākina ṭayyibatan fee jannāti ʿadnin thālika alfawzu alʿatheemu

    Translation

    He will forgive for you your sins and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence. That is the great attainment.

13. 13 As-Saff 61:13

    وَاُخْرٰى تُحِبُّونَهَاؕ نَصْرٌ مِنَ اللّٰهِ وَفَتْحٌ قَرٖيبٌؕ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُؤْمِنٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Waokhrā tuḥibboonahā naṣrun mina Allāhi wafatḥun qarreebun wabashshiri almumineena

    Translation

    And [you will obtain] another [favor] that you love - victory from Allah and an imminent conquest; and give good tidings to the believers.

14. 14 As-Saff 61:14

    يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا كُونُٓوا اَنْصَارَ اللّٰهِ كَمَا قَالَ عٖيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ لِلْحَوَارِيّٖنَ مَنْ اَنْصَارٖٓي اِلَى اللّٰهِؕ قَالَ الْحَوَارِيُّونَ نَحْنُ اَنْصَارُ اللّٰهِ فَاٰمَنَتْ طَٓائِـفَةٌ مِنْ بَنٖٓي اِسْرَٓائٖلَ وَكَـفَرَتْ طَٓائِـفَةٌۚ فَاَيَّدْنَا الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا عَلٰى عَدُوِّهِمْ فَاَصْبَحُوا ظَاهِرٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Yā ayyuhā allatheena āmanoo koonoo anṣāra Allāhi kamā qāla ʿeesā ibnu maryama lilḥawāriyyeena man anṣāree ilā Allāhi qāla alḥawāriyyoona naḥnu anṣāru Allāhi faāmanat ṭāifatun min banee isrāeela wakafarat ṭāifatun faayyadnā allatheena āmanoo ʿalā ʿaduwwihim faaṣbaḥoo thāhireena

    Translation

    O you who have believed, be supporters of Allah, as when Jesus, the son of Mary, said to the disciples, "Who are my supporters for Allah?" The disciples said, "We are supporters of Allah." And a faction of the Children of Israel believed and a faction disbelieved. So We supported those who believed against their enemy, and they became dominant.
