How are prayer times calculated?
Prayer times depend on the sun's position relative to the horizon, so they shift by a few minutes every day and from province to province. In Türkiye the official times are calculated and published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The times on these pages are Diyanet's; Tevazu does not alter them.
Diyanet adds a few minutes of precaution (temkin) so the times are safe across the whole province. That is why the sunrise and Maghrib times in the calendar differ by a few minutes from astronomical sunrise and sunset.
Larger provinces have districts with their own published times — 770 districts across the 81 provinces. If yours is one of them, check the districts section of the province page.
The six times
-
Fajr (imsak)
True dawn, when light first spreads along the horizon. Fajr begins and the fast starts.
-
Sunrise
The sun rises and the time for Fajr ends.
-
Dhuhr
Begins once the sun passes its highest point. Friday prayer (Jumu'ah) is held at this time.
-
Asr
Begins when an object's shadow grows by its own length beyond its noon shadow.
-
Maghrib
Begins when the sun has fully set. During Ramadan it is iftar time.
-
Isha
Begins when the twilight disappears from the western sky and lasts until dawn.

Ramadan timetable 2027 · 81 provinces
Where do these prayer times come from?
They are the official times published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs of Türkiye (Diyanet) for every province and district, refreshed daily. Tevazu is an independent app with no official affiliation to Diyanet and shows the times unchanged.
What time is Maghrib today?
On Wednesday, 14 October 2026, Maghrib is at 18:33 in Istanbul, 18:19 in Ankara and 18:43 in Izmir. Today it is earliest in Igdir (17:34) and latest in Canakkale (18:44).
Are district times the same as the province centre?
Not always. Diyanet publishes separate times for 770 districts across the 81 provinces, which can differ from the centre by a few minutes. Central districts use the province times. Each province page lists the districts with their own times.
Why do prayer times change every day?
Prayer times follow the sun's position relative to the horizon, and sunrise and sunset shift a little each day. In Istanbul, for example, Maghrib is at 18:33 today and 18:32 tomorrow.
When does Ramadan 2027 start in Türkiye?
According to the Diyanet calendar, the first fast of Ramadan 2027 is on Monday, 8 February 2027. Suhoor and iftar times for all 81 provinces are on the Ramadan timetable page.
