Sources and editorial principles

In Tevazu, prayer times follow where you are, from the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) and other sources. This page explains where each piece of information comes from, how often we update it and how we correct mistakes.

  • Prepared by: Tevazu

01 Data sources

  • Prayer times

In Türkiye and Northern Cyprus, the times published by the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet). The app chooses the source by where you are (the Caucasus Muslims Board in Azerbaijan, Diyanet's global data elsewhere); you can change the source in Settings or switch to calculation. This website lists the province-centre times of Türkiye's 81 provinces; your district may differ by a few minutes.

  • Religious days and kandils

The dates of the kandils, Eids and Ramadan, and the names and descriptions of the days, come from the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) religious days calendar, which the Tevazu app uses as well.

  • Qibla direction and distance

The Qibla angle and the distance to the Kaaba on the province pages are calculated from the province centre's coordinates. In the app the direction is calculated on your device; your exact coordinates are not sent to us.

02 Quran, translation and hadith

Our rule for religious texts is simple: publish nothing whose source is unknown. When we are not sure of something, we would rather leave it out than write it.

The Arabic text of the Quran
The Arabic text comes from the mushaf of the Presidency of Religious Affairs (kuran.diyanet.gov.tr).
Translation
English translation: Saheeh International. Transliteration: Açık Kuran (acikkuran.com). The translation and transliteration are used with the permission of their rights holders.
Hadith
The hadith texts, source lines and grades come from HadeethEnc.com; Tevazu adds or changes nothing in them. The hadith texts are used with the rights holder's permission.
Quotation and copyright
Copyrighted texts such as Diyanet sermons are never copied in full; we show only the title and date and link to the publisher for the full text and audio.

03 How often we update

  • Every day The website is rebuilt every day; prayer times, the Ramadan timetable and everything marked “today” are refreshed with that day’s data.
  • Yearly Religious days appear on the website once the data for a new year is added.
  • Generated pages The prayer time tables on the province and date pages are generated from the data.

The “Source · Last updated” line on every page shows the date of the data that page is based on.

04 Corrections policy

  1. 1 Tell us: send the address of the page with the error and the source of the correct information to info@tevazuapp.com with the subject “Correction”.
  2. 2 We check: we compare the report with the primary source (for example, the data Diyanet publishes).
  3. 3 We fix it: we correct a confirmed error, renew the page's update date and note significant corrections on the page.

If the times look different from the values Diyanet publishes, first check the location and the prayer time source in the app (Settings → Prayer Time Source); the app shows your district's times, the website the province centre's. More on the Support page.

05 Independence

Tevazu is an independent app. It has no official tie to the Presidency of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) or any other institution; it only uses the data Diyanet publishes as a source and says so on every page. Tevazu is not Diyanet's app.

The app is free; it is supported by ads and by the optional Tevazu Pro subscription. How data is processed is set out in the Privacy Policy.

06 Review

The people who review the religious content will be listed here by name and title, with their consent. A reviewer is named on a page only after a real review has taken place.
