Surah Al-Hijr in Arabic and English

1. 1 Al-Hijr 15:1

   الٓـرٰࣞ تِلْكَ اٰيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ وَقُرْاٰنٍ مُبٖينٍ

   Transliteration

   Aliflāmrā tilka āyātu alkitābi waqurānin mubeenin

   Translation

   Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an.

2. 2 Al-Hijr 15:2

   رُبَمَا يَوَدُّ الَّذٖينَ كَفَرُوا لَوْ كَانُوا مُسْلِمٖينَ

   Transliteration

   Rubamā yawaddu allatheena kafaroo law kānoo muslimeena

   Translation

   Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims.

3. 3 Al-Hijr 15:3

   ذَرْهُمْ يَأْكُلُوا وَيَتَمَتَّعُوا وَيُلْهِهِمُ الْاَمَلُ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

   Transliteration

   Tharhum yakuloo wayatamattaʿoo wayulhihimu alamalu fasawfa yaʿlamoona

   Translation

   Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know.

4. 4 Al-Hijr 15:4

   وَمَٓا اَهْلَكْنَا مِنْ قَرْيَةٍ اِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٌ مَعْلُومٌ

   Transliteration

   Wamā ahlaknā min qaryatin illā walahā kitābun maʿloomun

   Translation

   And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree.

5. 5 Al-Hijr 15:5

   مَا تَسْبِقُ مِنْ اُمَّةٍ اَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَأْخِرُونَ

   Transliteration

   Mā tasbiqu min ommatin ajalahā wamā yastakhiroona

   Translation

   No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter.

6. 6 Al-Hijr 15:6

   وَقَالُوا يَٓا اَيُّهَا الَّذٖي نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ الذِّ كْرُ اِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٌؕ

   Transliteration

   Waqāloo yā ayyuhā allathee nuzzila ʿalayhi alththikru innaka lamajnoonun

   Translation

   And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad.

7. 7 Al-Hijr 15:7

   لَوْ مَا تَأْتٖينَا بِالْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اِنْ كُنْتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقٖينَ

   Transliteration

   Law mā tateenā bialmalāikati in kunta mina alṣṣādiqeena

   Translation

   Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful?"

8. 8 Al-Hijr 15:8

   مَا نُنَزِّلُ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةَ اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَمَا كَانُٓوا اِذاً مُنْظَرٖينَ

   Transliteration

   Mā nunazzilu almalāikata illā bialḥaqqi wamā kānoo ithan munthareena

   Translation

   We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved.

9. 9 Al-Hijr 15:9

   اِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَاِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ

   Transliteration

   Innā naḥnu nazzalnā alththikra wainnā lahu laḥāfithoona

   Translation

   Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian.

10. 10 Al-Hijr 15:10

    وَلَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ قَبْلِكَ فٖي شِيَعِ الْاَوَّلٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad arsalnā min qablika fee shiyaʿi alawwaleena

    Translation

    And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples.

11. 11 Al-Hijr 15:11

    وَمَا يَأْتٖيهِمْ مِنْ رَسُولٍ اِلَّا كَانُوا بِهٖ يَسْتَهْزِؤُ۫نَ

    Transliteration

    Wamā yateehim min rasoolin illā kānoo bihi yastahzioona

    Translation

    And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him.

12. 12 Al-Hijr 15:12

    كَذٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُ فٖي قُلُوبِ الْمُجْرِمٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Kathālika naslukuhu fee quloobi almujrimeena

    Translation

    Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals.

13. 13 Al-Hijr 15:13

    لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهٖ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ الْاَوَّلٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Lā yuminoona bihi waqad khalat sunnatu alawwaleena

    Translation

    They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples.

14. 14 Al-Hijr 15:14

    وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ بَاباً مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ فَظَلُّوا فٖيهِ يَعْرُجُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Walaw fataḥnā ʿalayhim bāban mina alssamāi fathalloo feehi yaʿrujoona

    Translation

    And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend,

15. 15 Al-Hijr 15:15

    لَقَالُٓوا اِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتْ اَبْصَارُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٌ مَسْحُورُونَࣖ

    Transliteration

    Laqāloo innamā sukkirat abṣārunā bal naḥnu qawmun masḥooroona

    Translation

    They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic."

16. 16 Al-Hijr 15:16

    وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِي السَّمَٓاءِ بُرُوجاً وَزَيَّنَّاهَا لِلنَّاظِرٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad jaʿalnā fee alssamāi buroojan wazayyannāhā lilnnāthireena

    Translation

    And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers.

17. 17 Al-Hijr 15:17

    وَحَفِظْنَاهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْطَانٍ رَجٖيمٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Waḥafithnāhā min kulli shayṭānin rajeemin

    Translation

    And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]

18. 18 Al-Hijr 15:18

    اِلَّا مَنِ اسْتَرَقَ السَّمْعَ فَاَتْبَعَهُ شِهَابٌ مُبٖينٌ

    Transliteration

    Illā mani istaraqa alssamʿa faatbaʿahu shihābun mubeenun

    Translation

    Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame.

19. 19 Al-Hijr 15:19

    وَالْاَرْضَ مَدَدْنَاهَا وَاَلْقَيْنَا فٖيهَا رَوَاسِيَ وَاَنْبَتْنَا فٖيهَا مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مَوْزُونٍ

    Transliteration

    Waalarḏa madadnāhā waalqaynā feehā rawāsiya waanbatnā feehā min kulli shayin mawzoonin

    Translation

    And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing.

20. 20 Al-Hijr 15:20

    وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فٖيهَا مَعَايِشَ وَمَنْ لَسْتُمْ لَهُ بِرَازِقٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Wajaʿalnā lakum feehā maʿāyisha waman lastum lahu birāziqeena

    Translation

    And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers.

21. 21 Al-Hijr 15:21

    وَاِنْ مِنْ شَيْءٍ اِلَّا عِنْدَنَا خَزَٓائِنُهُؗ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُـهُٓ اِلَّا بِقَدَرٍ مَعْلُومٍ

    Transliteration

    Wain min shayin illā ʿindanā khazāinuhu wamā nunazziluhu illā biqadarin maʿloomin

    Translation

    And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure.

22. 22 Al-Hijr 15:22

    وَاَرْسَلْنَا الرِّيَاحَ لَوَاقِـحَ فَاَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ السَّمَٓاءِ مَٓاءً فَاَسْقَيْنَاكُمُوهُۚ وَمَٓا اَنْتُمْ لَهُ بِخَازِنٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Waarsalnā alrriyāḥa lawāqiḥa faanzalnā mina alssamāi māan faasqaynākumoohu wamā antum lahu bikhāzineena

    Translation

    And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.

23. 23 Al-Hijr 15:23

    وَاِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْـيٖ وَنُمٖيتُ وَنَحْنُ الْوَارِثُونَ

    Transliteration

    Wainnā lanaḥnu nuḥyee wanumeetu wanaḥnu alwārithoona

    Translation

    And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor.

24. 24 Al-Hijr 15:24

    وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَقْدِمٖينَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا الْمُسْتَأْخِرٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad ʿalimnā almustaqdimeena minkum walaqad ʿalimnā almustakhireena

    Translation

    And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come].

25. 25 Al-Hijr 15:25

    وَاِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمْؕ اِنَّهُ حَكٖيمٌ عَلٖيمٌࣖ

    Transliteration

    Wainna rabbaka huwa yaḥshuruhum innahu ḥakeemun ʿaleemun

    Translation

    And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing.

26. 26 Al-Hijr 15:26

    وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَأٍ۬ مَسْنُونٍۚ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad khalaqnā alinsāna min ṣalṣālin min ḥamain masnoonin

    Translation

    And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud.

27. 27 Al-Hijr 15:27

    وَالْجَٓانَّ خَلَقْنَاهُ مِنْ قَبْلُ مِنْ نَارِ السَّمُومِ

    Transliteration

    Waaljānna khalaqnāhu min qablu min nāri alssamoomi

    Translation

    And the jinn We created before from scorching fire.

28. 28 Al-Hijr 15:28

    وَاِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلٰٓئِكَةِ اِنّٖي خَالِقٌ بَشَراً مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَأٍ۬ مَسْنُونٍ

    Transliteration

    Waith qāla rabbuka lilmalāikati innee khāliqun basharan min ṣalṣālin min ḥamain masnoonin

    Translation

    And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud.

29. 29 Al-Hijr 15:29

    فَاِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُ وَنَفَخْتُ فٖيهِ مِنْ رُوحٖي فَقَعُوا لَهُ سَاجِدٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Faithā sawwaytuhu wanafakhtu feehi min rooḥee faqaʿoo lahu sājideena

    Translation

    And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration."

30. 30 Al-Hijr 15:30

    فَسَجَدَ الْمَلٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمْ اَجْمَعُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Fasajada almalāikatu kulluhum ajmaʿoona

    Translation

    So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely,

31. 31 Al-Hijr 15:31

    اِلَّٓا اِبْلٖيسَؕ اَبٰٓى اَنْ يَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Illā ibleesa abā an yakoona maʿa alssājideena

    Translation

    Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated.

32. 32 Al-Hijr 15:32

    قَالَ يَٓا اِبْلٖيسُ مَا لَكَ اَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ السَّاجِدٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Qāla yā ibleesu mā laka allā takoona maʿa alssājideena

    Translation

    [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?"

33. 33 Al-Hijr 15:33

    قَالَ لَمْ اَكُنْ لِاَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُ مِنْ صَلْصَالٍ مِنْ حَمَأٍ۬ مَسْنُونٍ

    Transliteration

    Qāla lam akun liasjuda libasharin khalaqtahu min ṣalṣālin min ḥamain masnoonin

    Translation

    He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud."

34. 34 Al-Hijr 15:34

    قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَاِنَّكَ رَجٖيمٌ

    Transliteration

    Qāla faokhruj minhā fainnaka rajeemun

    Translation

    [Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled.

35. 35 Al-Hijr 15:35

    وَاِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اللَّعْنَةَ اِلٰى يَوْمِ الدّٖينِ

    Transliteration

    Wainna ʿalayka allaʿnata ilā yawmi alddeeni

    Translation

    And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense."

36. 36 Al-Hijr 15:36

    قَالَ رَبِّ فَاَنْظِرْنٖٓي اِلٰى يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ

    Transliteration

    Qāla rabbi faanthirnee ilā yawmi yubʿathoona

    Translation

    He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."

37. 37 Al-Hijr 15:37

    قَالَ فَاِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنْظَرٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Qāla fainnaka mina almunthareena

    Translation

    [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

38. 38 Al-Hijr 15:38

    اِلٰى يَوْمِ الْوَقْتِ الْمَعْلُومِ

    Transliteration

    Ilā yawmi alwaqti almaʿloomi

    Translation

    Until the Day of the time well-known."

39. 39 Al-Hijr 15:39

    قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَٓا اَغْوَيْتَنٖي لَاُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِي الْاَرْضِ وَلَاُغْوِيَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَعٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Qāla rabbi bimā aghwaytanee laozayyinanna lahum fee alarḏi walaoghwiyannahum ajmaʿeena

    Translation

    [Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all

40. 40 Al-Hijr 15:40

    اِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ الْمُخْلَصٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Illā ʿibādaka minhumu almukhlaṣeena

    Translation

    Except, among them, Your chosen servants."

41. 41 Al-Hijr 15:41

    قَالَ هٰذَا صِرَاطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقٖيمٌ

    Transliteration

    Qāla hāthā ṣirāṭun ʿalayya mustaqeemun

    Translation

    [Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight.

42. 42 Al-Hijr 15:42

    اِنَّ عِبَادٖي لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَانٌ اِلَّا مَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْغَاوٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Inna ʿibādee laysa laka ʿalayhim sulṭānun illā mani ittabaʿaka mina alghāweena

    Translation

    Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators.

43. 43 Al-Hijr 15:43

    وَاِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمْ اَجْمَعٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Wainna jahannama lamawʿiduhum ajmaʿeena

    Translation

    And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all.

44. 44 Al-Hijr 15:44

    لَهَا سَبْعَةُ اَبْوَابٍؕ لِكُلِّ بَابٍ مِنْهُمْ جُزْءٌ مَقْسُومٌࣖ

    Transliteration

    Lahā sabʿatu abwābin likulli bābin minhum juzon maqsoomun

    Translation

    It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated."

45. 45 Al-Hijr 15:45

    اِنَّ الْمُتَّقٖينَ فٖي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍؕ

    Transliteration

    Inna almuttaqeena fee jannātin waʿuyoonin

    Translation

    Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs.

46. 46 Al-Hijr 15:46

    اُدْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَامٍ اٰمِنٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Odkhuloohā bisalāmin āmineena

    Translation

    [Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]."

47. 47 Al-Hijr 15:47

    وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فٖي صُدُورِهِمْ مِنْ غِلٍّ اِخْوَاناً عَلٰى سُرُرٍ مُتَقَابِلٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Wanazaʿnā mā fee ṣudoorihim min ghillin ikhwānan ʿalā sururin mutaqābileena

    Translation

    And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other.

48. 48 Al-Hijr 15:48

    لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فٖيهَا نَصَبٌ وَمَا هُمْ مِنْهَا بِمُخْرَجٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Lā yamassuhum feehā naṣabun wamā hum minhā bimukhrajeena

    Translation

    No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed.

49. 49 Al-Hijr 15:49

    نَبِّئْ عِبَادٖٓي اَنّٖٓي اَنَا الْغَفُورُ الرَّحٖيمُۙ

    Transliteration

    Nabbi ʿibādee annee anā alghafooru alrraḥeemu

    Translation

    [O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful.

50. 50 Al-Hijr 15:50

    وَاَنَّ عَذَابٖي هُوَ الْعَذَابُ الْاَلٖيمُ

    Transliteration

    Wa anna ʿathābee huwa alʿathābu alaleemu

    Translation

    And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment.

51. 51 Al-Hijr 15:51

    وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَنْ ضَيْفِ اِبْرٰهٖيمَۘ

    Transliteration

    Wanabbihum ʿan ḏayfi ibrāheema

    Translation

    And inform them about the guests of Abraham,

52. 52 Al-Hijr 15:52

    اِذْ دَخَلُوا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُوا سَلَاماًؕ قَالَ اِنَّا مِنْكُمْ وَجِلُونَ

    Transliteration

    Ith dakhaloo ʿalayhi faqāloo salāman qāla innā minkum wajiloona

    Translation

    When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you."

53. 53 Al-Hijr 15:53

    قَالُوا لَا تَوْجَلْ اِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَامٍ عَلٖيمٍ

    Transliteration

    Qāloo lā tawjal innā nubashshiruka bighulāmin ʿaleemin

    Translation

    [The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy."

54. 54 Al-Hijr 15:54

    قَالَ اَبَشَّرْتُمُونٖي عَلٰٓى اَنْ مَسَّنِيَ الْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونَ

    Transliteration

    Qāla abashshartumoonee ʿalā an massaniya alkibaru fabima tubashshirooni

    Translation

    He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform?"

55. 55 Al-Hijr 15:55

    قَالُوا بَشَّرْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُنْ مِنَ الْقَانِطٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Qāloo bashsharnāka bialḥaqqi falā takun mina alqāniṭeena

    Translation

    They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing."

56. 56 Al-Hijr 15:56

    قَالَ وَمَنْ يَقْنَطُ مِنْ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّهٖٓ اِلَّا الضَّٓالُّونَ

    Transliteration

    Qāla waman yaqnaṭu min raḥmati rabbihi illā alḏḏālloona

    Translation

    He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray?"

57. 57 Al-Hijr 15:57

    قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ اَيُّهَا الْمُرْسَلُونَ

    Transliteration

    Qāla famā khaṭbukum ayyuhā almursaloona

    Translation

    [Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers?"

58. 58 Al-Hijr 15:58

    قَالُٓوا اِنَّٓا اُرْسِلْـنَٓا اِلٰى قَوْمٍ مُجْرِمٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Qāloo innā orsilnā ilā qawmin mujrimeena

    Translation

    They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals,

59. 59 Al-Hijr 15:59

    اِلَّٓا اٰلَ لُوطٍؕ اِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمْ اَجْمَعٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Illā āla looṭin innā lamunajjoohum ajmaʿeena

    Translation

    Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all

60. 60 Al-Hijr 15:60

    اِلَّا امْرَاَتَهُ قَدَّرْنَٓاۙ اِنَّهَا لَمِنَ الْغَابِرٖينَࣖ

    Transliteration

    Illā imraatahu qaddarnā innahā lamina alghābireena

    Translation

    Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind.

61. 61 Al-Hijr 15:61

    فَلَمَّا جَٓاءَ اٰلَ لُوطٍۨ الْمُرْسَلُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Falammā jāa āla looṭin almursaloona

    Translation

    And when the messengers came to the family of Lot,

62. 62 Al-Hijr 15:62

    قَالَ اِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُنْكَرُونَ

    Transliteration

    Qāla innakum qawmun munkaroona

    Translation

    He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown."

63. 63 Al-Hijr 15:63

    قَالُوا بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُوا فٖيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ

    Transliteration

    Qāloo bal jināka bimā kānoo feehi yamtaroona

    Translation

    They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing,

64. 64 Al-Hijr 15:64

    وَاَتَيْنَاكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَاِنَّا لَصَادِقُونَ

    Transliteration

    Waataynāka bialḥaqqi wainnā laṣādiqoona

    Translation

    And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful.

65. 65 Al-Hijr 15:65

    فَاَسْرِ بِاَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٍ مِنَ الَّيْلِ وَاتَّبِـعْ اَدْبَارَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنْكُمْ اَحَدٌ وَامْضُوا حَيْثُ تُؤْمَرُونَ

    Transliteration

    Faasri biahlika biqiṭʿin mina allayli waittabiʿ adbārahum walā yaltafit minkum aḥadun waimḏoo ḥaythu tumaroona

    Translation

    So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded."

66. 66 Al-Hijr 15:66

    وَقَضَيْنَٓا اِلَيْهِ ذٰلِكَ الْاَمْرَ اَنَّ دَابِرَ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ مَقْطُوعٌ مُصْبِحٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Waqaḏaynā ilayhi thālika alamra anna dābira hāolāi maqṭooʿun muṣbiḥeena

    Translation

    And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning.

67. 67 Al-Hijr 15:67

    وَجَٓاءَ اَهْلُ الْمَدٖينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ

    Transliteration

    Wajāa ahlu almadeenati yastabshiroona

    Translation

    And the people of the city came rejoicing.

68. 68 Al-Hijr 15:68

    قَالَ اِنَّ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ ضَيْفٖي فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِۙ

    Transliteration

    Qāla inna hāolāi ḏayfee falā tafḏaḥooni

    Translation

    [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me.

69. 69 Al-Hijr 15:69

    وَاتَّقُوا اللّٰهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ

    Transliteration

    Waittaqoo Allāha walā tukhzooni

    Translation

    And fear Allah and do not disgrace me."

70. 70 Al-Hijr 15:70

    قَالُٓوا اَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ الْعَالَمٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Qāloo awalam nanhaka ʿani alʿālameena

    Translation

    They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people?"

71. 71 Al-Hijr 15:71

    قَالَ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ بَنَاتٖٓي اِنْ كُنْتُمْ فَاعِلٖينَؕ

    Transliteration

    Qāla hāolāi banātee in kuntum fāʿileena

    Translation

    [Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]."

72. 72 Al-Hijr 15:72

    لَعَمْرُكَ اِنَّهُمْ لَفٖي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ

    Transliteration

    Laʿamruka innahum lafee sakratihim yaʿmahoona

    Translation

    By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.

73. 73 Al-Hijr 15:73

    فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Faakhathathumu alṣṣayḥatu mushriqeena

    Translation

    So the shriek seized them at sunrise.

74. 74 Al-Hijr 15:74

    فَجَعَلْنَا عَالِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَاَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةً مِنْ سِجّٖيلٍؕ

    Transliteration

    Fajaʿalnā ʿāliyahā sāfilahā waamṭarnā ʿalayhim ḥijāratan min sijjeelin

    Translation

    And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay.

75. 75 Al-Hijr 15:75

    اِنَّ فٖي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَاتٍ لِلْمُتَوَسِّمٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Inna fee thālika laāyātin lilmutawassimeena

    Translation

    Indeed in that are signs for those who discern.

76. 76 Al-Hijr 15:76

    وَاِنَّهَا لَبِسَبٖيلٍ مُقٖيمٍ

    Transliteration

    Wainnahā labisabeelin muqeemin

    Translation

    And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road.

77. 77 Al-Hijr 15:77

    اِنَّ فٖي ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيَةً لِلْمُؤْمِنٖينَؕ

    Transliteration

    Inna fee thālika laāyatan lilmumineena

    Translation

    Indeed in that is a sign for the believers.

78. 78 Al-Hijr 15:78

    وَاِنْ كَانَ اَصْحَابُ الْاَيْكَةِ لَظَالِمٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Wain kāna aṣḥābu alaykati lathālimeena

    Translation

    And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers.

79. 79 Al-Hijr 15:79

    فَانْتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْۘ وَاِنَّهُمَا لَبِاِمَامٍ مُبٖينٍؕࣖ

    Transliteration

    Faintaqamnā minhum wainnahumā labiimāmin mubeenin

    Translation

    So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway.

80. 80 Al-Hijr 15:80

    وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ اَصْحَابُ الْحِجْرِ الْمُرْسَلٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad kaththaba aṣḥābu alḥijri almursaleena

    Translation

    And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers.

81. 81 Al-Hijr 15:81

    وَاٰتَيْنَاهُمْ اٰيَاتِنَا فَكَانُوا عَنْهَا مُعْرِضٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Waātaynāhum āyātinā fakānoo ʿanhā muʿriḏeena

    Translation

    And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away.

82. 82 Al-Hijr 15:82

    وَكَانُوا يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ بُيُوتاً اٰمِنٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Wakānoo yanḥitoona mina aljibāli buyootan āmineena

    Translation

    And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure.

83. 83 Al-Hijr 15:83

    فَاَخَذَتْهُمُ الصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Faakhathathumu alṣṣayḥatu muṣbiḥeena

    Translation

    But the shriek seized them at early morning.

84. 84 Al-Hijr 15:84

    فَمَٓا اَغْنٰى عَنْهُمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَؕ

    Transliteration

    Famā aghnā ʿanhum mā kānoo yaksiboona

    Translation

    So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn.

85. 85 Al-Hijr 15:85

    وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَٓا اِلَّا بِالْحَقِّؕ وَاِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَاٰتِيَةٌ فَاصْفَحِ الصَّفْحَ الْجَمٖيلَ

    Transliteration

    Wamā khalaqnā alssamāwāti waalarḏa wamā baynahumā illā bialḥaqqi wainna alssāʿata laātiyatun faiṣfaḥi alṣṣafḥa aljameela

    Translation

    And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness.

86. 86 Al-Hijr 15:86

    اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ الْخَلَّاقُ الْعَلٖيمُ

    Transliteration

    Inna rabbaka huwa alkhallāqu alʿaleemu

    Translation

    Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator.

87. 87 Al-Hijr 15:87

    وَلَقَدْ اٰتَيْنَاكَ سَبْعاً مِنَ الْمَثَانٖي وَالْقُرْاٰنَ الْعَظٖيمَ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad ātaynāka sabʿan mina almathānee waalqurāna alʿatheema

    Translation

    And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an.

88. 88 Al-Hijr 15:88

    لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ اِلٰى مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهٖٓ اَزْوَاجاً مِنْهُمْ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُؤْمِنٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Lā tamuddanna ʿaynayka ilā mā mattaʿnā bihi azwājan minhum walā taḥzan ʿalayhim waikhfiḏ janāḥaka lilmumineena

    Translation

    Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers

89. 89 Al-Hijr 15:89

    وَقُلْ اِنّٖٓي اَنَا النَّذٖيرُ الْمُبٖينُۚ

    Transliteration

    Waqul innee anā alnnatheeru almubeenu

    Translation

    And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" -

90. 90 Al-Hijr 15:90

    كَمَٓا اَنْزَلْنَا عَلَى الْمُقْتَسِمٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Kamā anzalnā ʿalā almuqtasimeena

    Translation

    Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators

91. 91 Al-Hijr 15:91

    اَلَّذٖينَ جَعَلُوا الْقُرْاٰنَ عِضٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Allatheena jaʿaloo alqurāna ʿiḏeena

    Translation

    Who have made the Qur'an into portions.

92. 92 Al-Hijr 15:92

    فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمْ اَجْمَعٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Fawarabbika lanasalannahum ajmaʿeena

    Translation

    So by your Lord, We will surely question them all

93. 93 Al-Hijr 15:93

    عَمَّا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ

    Transliteration

    ʿammā kānoo yaʿmaloona

    Translation

    About what they used to do.

94. 94 Al-Hijr 15:94

    فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُؤْمَرُ وَاَعْرِضْ عَنِ الْمُشْرِكٖينَ

    Transliteration

    Faiṣdaʿ bimā tumaru waaʿriḏ ʿani almushrikeena

    Translation

    Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists.

95. 95 Al-Hijr 15:95

    اِنَّا كَفَيْنَاكَ الْمُسْتَهْزِءٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Innā kafaynāka almustahzieena

    Translation

    Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers

96. 96 Al-Hijr 15:96

    اَلَّذٖينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اللّٰهِ اِلٰهاً اٰخَرَۚ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ

    Transliteration

    Allatheena yajʿaloona maʿa Allāhi ilāhan ākhara fasawfa yaʿlamoona

    Translation

    Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know.

97. 97 Al-Hijr 15:97

    وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ اَنَّكَ يَضٖيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Walaqad naʿlamu annaka yaḏeequ ṣadruka bimā yaqooloona

    Translation

    And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say.

98. 98 Al-Hijr 15:98

    فَسَبِّـحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُنْ مِنَ السَّاجِدٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Fasabbiḥ biḥamdi rabbika wakun mina alssājideena

    Translation

    So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him].

99. 99 Al-Hijr 15:99

    وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتّٰى يَأْتِيَكَ الْيَقٖينُ

    Transliteration

    Waoʿbud rabbaka ḥattā yatiyaka alyaqeenu

    Translation

    And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death).
