Surah Al-Qiyaama in Arabic and English

1. 1 Al-Qiyaama 75:1

   لَٓا اُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيٰمَةِۙ

   Transliteration

   Lā oqsimu biyawmi alqiyāmati

   Translation

   I swear by the Day of Resurrection

2. 2 Al-Qiyaama 75:2

   وَلَٓا اُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ

   Transliteration

   Walā oqsimu bialnnafsi allawwāmati

   Translation

   And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].

3. 3 Al-Qiyaama 75:3

   اَيَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَلَّنْ نَجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُؕ

   Transliteration

   Ayaḥsabu alinsānu allan najmaʿa ʿithāmahu

   Translation

   Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?

4. 4 Al-Qiyaama 75:4

   بَلٰى قَادِرٖينَ عَلٰٓى اَنْ نُسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ

   Transliteration

   Balā qādireena ʿalā an nusawwiya banānahu

   Translation

   Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.

5. 5 Al-Qiyaama 75:5

   بَلْ يُرٖيدُ الْاِنْسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ اَمَامَهُۚ

   Transliteration

   Bal yureedu alinsānu liyafjura amāmahu

   Translation

   But man desires to continue in sin.

6. 6 Al-Qiyaama 75:6

   يَسْـَٔلُ اَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيٰمَةِؕ

   Transliteration

   Yasalu ayyāna yawmu alqiyāmati

   Translation

   He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"

7. 7 Al-Qiyaama 75:7

   فَاِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُۙ

   Transliteration

   Faithā bariqa albaṣaru

   Translation

   So when vision is dazzled

8. 8 Al-Qiyaama 75:8

   وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُۙ

   Transliteration

   Wakhasafa alqamaru

   Translation

   And the moon darkens

9. 9 Al-Qiyaama 75:9

   وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُۙ

   Transliteration

   Wajumiʿa alshshamsu waalqamaru

   Translation

   And the sun and the moon are joined,

10. 10 Al-Qiyaama 75:10

    يَقُولُ الْاِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ اَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّۚ

    Transliteration

    Yaqoolu alinsānu yawmaithin ayna almafarru

    Translation

    Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"

11. 11 Al-Qiyaama 75:11

    كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَۚ

    Transliteration

    Kallā lā wazara

    Translation

    No! There is no refuge.

12. 12 Al-Qiyaama 75:12

    اِلٰى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍۨ الْمُسْتَقَرُّؕ

    Transliteration

    Ilā rabbika yawmaithin almustaqarru

    Translation

    To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.

13. 13 Al-Qiyaama 75:13

    يُنَبَّـؤُا الْاِنْسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَاَخَّرَؕ

    Transliteration

    Yunabbao alinsānu yawmaithin bimā qaddama waakhkhara

    Translation

    Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.

14. 14 Al-Qiyaama 75:14

    بَلِ الْاِنْسَانُ عَلٰى نَفْسِهٖ بَصٖيرَةٌۙ

    Transliteration

    Bali alinsānu ʿalā nafsihi baṣeeratun

    Translation

    Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,

15. 15 Al-Qiyaama 75:15

    وَلَوْ اَلْقٰى مَعَاذٖيرَهُؕ

    Transliteration

    Walaw alqā maʿātheerahu

    Translation

    Even if he presents his excuses.

16. 16 Al-Qiyaama 75:16

    لَا تُحَرِّكْ بِهٖ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعْجَلَ بِهٖؕ

    Transliteration

    Lā tuḥarrik bihi lisānaka litaʿjala bihi

    Translation

    Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an.

17. 17 Al-Qiyaama 75:17

    اِنَّ عَلَيْنَا جَمْعَهُ وَقُرْاٰنَهُۚ

    Transliteration

    Inna ʿalaynā jamʿahu waqurānahu

    Translation

    Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.

18. 18 Al-Qiyaama 75:18

    فَاِذَا قَرَأْنَاهُ فَاتَّبِعْ قُرْاٰنَهُۚ

    Transliteration

    Faithā qaranāhu faittabiʿ qurānahu

    Translation

    So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.

19. 19 Al-Qiyaama 75:19

    ثُمَّ اِنَّ عَلَيْنَا بَيَانَهُؕ

    Transliteration

    Thumma inna ʿalaynā bayānahu

    Translation

    Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].

20. 20 Al-Qiyaama 75:20

    كَلَّا بَلْ تُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَۙ

    Transliteration

    Kallā bal tuḥibboona alʿājilata

    Translation

    No! But you love the immediate

21. 21 Al-Qiyaama 75:21

    وَتَذَرُونَ الْاٰخِرَةَؕ

    Transliteration

    Watatharoona alākhirata

    Translation

    And leave the Hereafter.

22. 22 Al-Qiyaama 75:22

    وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌۙ

    Transliteration

    Wujoohun yawmaithin nāḏiratun

    Translation

    [Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,

23. 23 Al-Qiyaama 75:23

    اِلٰى رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌۚ

    Transliteration

    Ilā rabbihā nāthiratun

    Translation

    Looking at their Lord.

24. 24 Al-Qiyaama 75:24

    وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌۙ

    Transliteration

    Wawujoohun yawmaithin bāsiratun

    Translation

    And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,

25. 25 Al-Qiyaama 75:25

    تَظُنُّ اَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌؕ

    Transliteration

    Tathunnu an yufʿala bihā fāqiratun

    Translation

    Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.

26. 26 Al-Qiyaama 75:26

    كَلَّٓا اِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَۙ

    Transliteration

    Kallā ithā balaghati alttarāqiya

    Translation

    No! When the soul has reached the collar bones

27. 27 Al-Qiyaama 75:27

    وَقٖيلَ مَنْ رَࣝاقٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Waqeela man rāqin

    Translation

    And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"

28. 28 Al-Qiyaama 75:28

    وَظَنَّ اَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُۙ

    Transliteration

    Wathanna annahu alfirāqu

    Translation

    And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation

29. 29 Al-Qiyaama 75:29

    وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِۙ

    Transliteration

    Wailtaffati alssāqu bialssāqi

    Translation

    And the leg is wound about the leg,

30. 30 Al-Qiyaama 75:30

    اِلٰى رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍۨ الْمَسَاقُؕࣖ

    Transliteration

    Ilā rabbika yawmaithin almasāqu

    Translation

    To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.

31. 31 Al-Qiyaama 75:31

    فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلّٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Falā ṣaddaqa walā ṣallā

    Translation

    And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.

32. 32 Al-Qiyaama 75:32

    وَلٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Walākin kaththaba watawallā

    Translation

    But [instead], he denied and turned away.

33. 33 Al-Qiyaama 75:33

    ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ اِلٰٓى اَهْلِهٖ يَتَمَطّٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Thumma thahaba ilā ahlihi yatamaṭṭā

    Translation

    And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].

34. 34 Al-Qiyaama 75:34

    اَوْلٰى لَكَ فَاَوْلٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Awlā laka faawlā

    Translation

    Woe to you, and woe!

35. 35 Al-Qiyaama 75:35

    ثُمَّ اَوْلٰى لَكَ فَاَوْلٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Thumma awlā laka faawlā

    Translation

    Then woe to you, and woe!

36. 36 Al-Qiyaama 75:36

    اَيَحْسَبُ الْاِنْسَانُ اَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدًىؕ

    Transliteration

    Ayaḥsabu alinsānu an yutraka sudān

    Translation

    Does man think that he will be left neglected?

37. 37 Al-Qiyaama 75:37

    اَلَمْ يَكُ نُطْفَةً مِنْ مَنِيٍّ يُمْنٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Alam yaku nuṭfatan min manayyin yumnā

    Translation

    Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?

38. 38 Al-Qiyaama 75:38

    ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةً فَخَلَقَ فَسَوّٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Thumma kāna ʿalaqatan fakhalaqa fasawwā

    Translation

    Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him]

39. 39 Al-Qiyaama 75:39

    فَجَعَلَ مِنْهُ الزَّوْجَيْنِ الذَّكَرَ وَالْاُنْثٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Fajaʿala minhu alzzawjayni alththakara waalonthā

    Translation

    And made of him two mates, the male and the female.

40. 40 Al-Qiyaama 75:40

    اَلَيْسَ ذٰلِكَ بِقَادِرٍ عَلٰٓى اَنْ يُحْيِيَ الْمَوْتٰى

    Transliteration

    Alaysa thālika biqādirin ʿalā an yuḥyiya almawtā

    Translation

    Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?
