Surah Nooh in Arabic and English

1. 1 Nooh 71:1

   اِنَّٓا اَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً اِلٰى قَوْمِهٖٓ اَنْ اَنْذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِنْ قَبْلِ اَنْ يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلٖيمٌ

   Transliteration

   Innā arsalnā nooḥan ilā qawmihi an anthir qawmaka min qabli an yatiyahum ʿathābun aleemun

   Translation

   Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment."

2. 2 Nooh 71:2

   قَالَ يَا قَوْمِ اِنّٖي لَكُمْ نَذٖيرٌ مُبٖينٌۙ

   Transliteration

   Qāla yā qawmi innee lakum natheerun mubeenun

   Translation

   He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner,

3. 3 Nooh 71:3

   اَنِ اعْبُدُوا اللّٰهَ وَاتَّـقُوهُ وَاَطٖيعُونِۙ

   Transliteration

   Ani oʿbudoo Allāha waittaqoohu waaṭeeʿooni

   Translation

   [Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me.

4. 4 Nooh 71:4

   يَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ مِنْ ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ اِلٰٓى اَجَلٍ مُسَمًّىؕ اِنَّ اَجَلَ اللّٰهِ اِذَا جَٓاءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُۘ لَوْ كُنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ

   Transliteration

   Yaghfir lakum min thunoobikum wayuakhkhirkum ilā ajalin musamman inna ajala Allāhi ithā jāa lā yuakhkharu law kuntum taʿlamoona

   Translation

   Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew.' "

5. 5 Nooh 71:5

   قَالَ رَبِّ اِنّٖي دَعَوْتُ قَوْمٖي لَيْلاً وَنَهَاراًۙ

   Transliteration

   Qāla rabbi innee daʿawtu qawmee laylan wanahārān

   Translation

   He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day.

6. 6 Nooh 71:6

   فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَٓاءٖٓي اِلَّا فِرَاراً

   Transliteration

   Falam yazidhum duʿāee illā firārān

   Translation

   But my invitation increased them not except in flight.

7. 7 Nooh 71:7

   وَاِنّٖي كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُٓوا اَصَابِعَهُمْ فٖٓي اٰذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْا ثِيَابَهُمْ وَاَصَرُّوا وَاسْتَكْبَرُوا اسْتِكْبَاراًۚ

   Transliteration

   Wainnee kullamā daʿawtuhum litaghfira lahum jaʿaloo aṣābiʿahum fee āthānihim waistaghshaw thiyābahum waaṣarroo waistakbaroo istikbārān

   Translation

   And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance.

8. 8 Nooh 71:8

   ثُمَّ اِنّٖي دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَاراًۙ

   Transliteration

   Thumma innee daʿawtuhum jihārān

   Translation

   Then I invited them publicly.

9. 9 Nooh 71:9

   ثُمَّ اِنّٖٓي اَعْلَنْتُ لَهُمْ وَاَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ اِسْرَاراًۙ

   Transliteration

   Thumma innee aʿlantu lahum waasrartu lahum isrārān

   Translation

   Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly

10. 10 Nooh 71:10

    فَـقُلْتُ اسْتَغْفِرُوا رَبَّكُمْ اِنَّهُ كَانَ غَفَّاراًۙ

    Transliteration

    Faqultu istaghfiroo rabbakum innahu kāna ghaffārān

    Translation

    And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver.

11. 11 Nooh 71:11

    يُرْسِلِ السَّمَٓاءَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِدْرَاراًۙ

    Transliteration

    Yursili alssamāa ʿalaykum midrārān

    Translation

    He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

12. 12 Nooh 71:12

    وَيُمْدِدْكُمْ بِاَمْوَالٍ وَبَنٖينَ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ جَنَّاتٍ وَيَجْعَلْ لَكُمْ اَنْهَاراًؕ

    Transliteration

    Wayumdidkum biamwālin wabaneena wayajʿal lakum jannātin wayajʿal lakum anhārān

    Translation

    And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers.

13. 13 Nooh 71:13

    مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلّٰهِ وَقَاراًۚ

    Transliteration

    Mā lakum lā tarjoona lillāhi waqārān

    Translation

    What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur

14. 14 Nooh 71:14

    وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ اَطْوَاراً

    Transliteration

    Waqad khalaqakum aṭwārān

    Translation

    While He has created you in stages?

15. 15 Nooh 71:15

    اَلَمْ تَرَوْا كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اللّٰهُ سَبْعَ سَمٰوَاتٍ طِبَاقاًۙ

    Transliteration

    Alam taraw kayfa khalaqa Allāhu sabʿa samāwātin ṭibāqān

    Translation

    Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

16. 16 Nooh 71:16

    وَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فٖيهِنَّ نُوراً وَجَعَلَ الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجاً

    Transliteration

    Wajaʿala alqamara feehinna nooran wajaʿala alshshamsa sirājān

    Translation

    And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp?

17. 17 Nooh 71:17

    وَاللّٰهُ اَنْبَتَكُمْ مِنَ الْاَرْضِ نَبَاتاًۙ

    Transliteration

    WaAllāhu anbatakum mina alarḏi nabātān

    Translation

    And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth.

18. 18 Nooh 71:18

    ثُمَّ يُعٖيدُكُمْ فٖيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ اِخْرَاجاً

    Transliteration

    Thumma yuʿeedukum feehā wayukhrijukum ikhrājān

    Translation

    Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction.

19. 19 Nooh 71:19

    وَاللّٰهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ الْاَرْضَ بِسَاطاًۙ

    Transliteration

    WaAllāhu jaʿala lakumu alarḏa bisāṭān

    Translation

    And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse

20. 20 Nooh 71:20

    لِتَسْلُكُوا مِنْهَا سُبُلاً فِجَاجاًࣖ

    Transliteration

    Litaslukoo minhā subulan fijājān

    Translation

    That you may follow therein roads of passage.' "

21. 21 Nooh 71:21

    قَالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ اِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنٖي وَاتَّبَعُوا مَنْ لَمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُ وَوَلَدُهُٓ اِلَّا خَسَاراًۚ

    Transliteration

    Qāla nooḥun rabbi innahum ʿaṣawnee waittabaʿoo man lam yazidhu māluhu wawaladuhu illā khasārān

    Translation

    Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss.

22. 22 Nooh 71:22

    وَمَكَرُوا مَكْراً كُبَّاراًۚ

    Transliteration

    Wamakaroo makran kubbārān

    Translation

    And they conspired an immense conspiracy.

23. 23 Nooh 71:23

    وَقَالُوا لَا تَذَرُنَّ اٰلِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَداًّ وَلَا سُوَاعاًۙ وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْراًۚ

    Transliteration

    Waqāloo lā tatharunna ālihatakum walā tatharunna waddan walā suwāʿan walā yaghootha wayaʿooqa wanasrān

    Translation

    And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr.

24. 24 Nooh 71:24

    وَقَدْ اَضَلُّوا كَثٖيراًۚ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمٖينَ اِلَّا ضَلَالاً

    Transliteration

    Waqad aḏalloo katheeran walā tazidi alththālimeena illā ḏalālān

    Translation

    And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error."

25. 25 Nooh 71:25

    مِمَّا خَطٖٓيـَٔاتِهِمْ اُغْرِقُوا فَاُدْخِلُوا نَاراً فَلَمْ يَجِدُوا لَهُمْ مِنْ دُونِ اللّٰهِ اَنْصَاراً

    Transliteration

    Mimmā khaṭeeātihim oghriqoo faodkhiloo nāran falam yajidoo lahum min dooni Allāhi anṣārān

    Translation

    Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers.

26. 26 Nooh 71:26

    وَقَالَ نُوحٌ رَبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى الْاَرْضِ مِنَ الْكَافِرٖينَ دَيَّاراً

    Transliteration

    Waqāla nooḥun rabbi lā tathar ʿalā alarḏi mina alkāfireena dayyārān

    Translation

    And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant.

27. 27 Nooh 71:27

    اِنَّكَ اِنْ تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّوا عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُٓوا اِلَّا فَاجِراً كَفَّاراً

    Transliteration

    Innaka in tatharhum yuḏilloo ʿibādaka walā yalidoo illā fājiran kaffārān

    Translation

    Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever.

28. 28 Nooh 71:28

    رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لٖي وَلِوَالِدَيَّ وَلِمَنْ دَخَلَ بَيْتِيَ مُؤْمِناً وَلِلْمُؤْمِنٖينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِؕ وَلَا تَزِدِ الظَّالِمٖينَ اِلَّا تَبَاراً

    Transliteration

    Rabbi ighfir lee waliwālidayya waliman dakhala baytiya muminan walilmumineena waalmumināti walā tazidi alththālimeena illā tabāran

    Translation

    My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction."
