Surah Al-A'laa in Arabic and English

1. 1 Al-A'laa 87:1

   سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْاَعْلٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Sabbiḥi isma rabbika alaʿlā

   Translation

   Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,

2. 2 Al-A'laa 87:2

   اَلَّذٖي خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰىۙۖ

   Transliteration

   Allathee khalaqa fasawwā

   Translation

   Who created and proportioned

3. 3 Al-A'laa 87:3

   وَالَّذٖي قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰىۙۖ

   Transliteration

   Waallathee qaddara fahadā

   Translation

   And who destined and [then] guided

4. 4 Al-A'laa 87:4

   وَالَّـذٖٓي اَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعٰىۙۖ

   Transliteration

   Waallathee akhraja almarʿā

   Translation

   And who brings out the pasture

5. 5 Al-A'laa 87:5

   فَجَعَلَهُ غُثَٓاءً اَحْوٰىؕ

   Transliteration

   Fajaʿalahu ghuthāan aḥwā

   Translation

   And [then] makes it black stubble.

6. 6 Al-A'laa 87:6

   سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Sanuqrioka falā tansā

   Translation

   We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget,

7. 7 Al-A'laa 87:7

   اِلَّا مَا شَٓاءَ اللّٰهُؕ اِنَّهُ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفٰىؕ

   Transliteration

   Illā mā shāa Allāhu innahu yaʿlamu aljahra wamā yakhfā

   Translation

   Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.

8. 8 Al-A'laa 87:8

   وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرٰىۚ

   Transliteration

   Wanuyassiruka lilyusrā

   Translation

   And We will ease you toward ease.

9. 9 Al-A'laa 87:9

   فَذَكِّرْ اِنْ نَفَعَتِ الذِّ كْرٰىؕ

   Transliteration

   Fathakkir in nafaʿati alththikrā

   Translation

   So remind, if the reminder should benefit;

10. 10 Al-A'laa 87:10

    سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَخْشٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Sayaththakkaru man yakhshā

    Translation

    He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.

11. 11 Al-A'laa 87:11

    وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْاَشْقٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Wayatajannabuhā alashqā

    Translation

    But the wretched one will avoid it -

12. 12 Al-A'laa 87:12

    اَلَّذٖي يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرٰىۚ

    Transliteration

    Allathee yaṣlā alnnāra alkubrā

    Translation

    [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,

13. 13 Al-A'laa 87:13

    ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوتُ فٖيهَا وَلَا يَحْيٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Thumma lā yamootu feehā walā yaḥyā

    Translation

    Neither dying therein nor living.

14. 14 Al-A'laa 87:14

    قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكّٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Qad aflaḥa man tazakkā

    Translation

    He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself

15. 15 Al-A'laa 87:15

    وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهٖ فَصَلّٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Wathakara isma rabbihi faṣallā

    Translation

    And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.

16. 16 Al-A'laa 87:16

    بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَاؗ

    Transliteration

    Bal tuthiroona alḥayāta alddunyā

    Translation

    But you prefer the worldly life,

17. 17 Al-A'laa 87:17

    وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَاَبْقٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Waalākhiratu khayrun waabqā

    Translation

    While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

18. 18 Al-A'laa 87:18

    اِنَّ هٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْاُو۫لٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Inna hāthā lafee alṣṣuḥufi aloolā

    Translation

    Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,

19. 19 Al-A'laa 87:19

    صُحُفِ اِبْرٰهٖيمَ وَمُوسٰى

    Transliteration

    Ṣuḥufi ibrāheema wamoosā

    Translation

    The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
