Surah Al-Burooj in Arabic and English

1. 1 Al-Burooj 85:1

   وَالسَّمَٓاءِ ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِۙ

   Transliteration

   Waalssamāi thāti alburooji

   Translation

   By the sky containing great stars

2. 2 Al-Burooj 85:2

   وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِۙ

   Transliteration

   Waalyawmi almawʿoodi

   Translation

   And [by] the promised Day

3. 3 Al-Burooj 85:3

   وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍؕ

   Transliteration

   Washāhidin wamashhoodin

   Translation

   And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,

4. 4 Al-Burooj 85:4

   قُتِلَ اَصْحَابُ الْاُخْدُودِۙ

   Transliteration

   Qutila aṣḥābu alukhdoodi

   Translation

   Cursed were the companions of the trench

5. 5 Al-Burooj 85:5

   اَلنَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِۙ

   Transliteration

   Alnnāri thāti alwaqoodi

   Translation

   [Containing] the fire full of fuel,

6. 6 Al-Burooj 85:6

   اِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌۙ

   Transliteration

   Ith hum ʿalayhā quʿoodun

   Translation

   When they were sitting near it

7. 7 Al-Burooj 85:7

   وَهُمْ عَلٰى مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنٖينَ شُهُودٌؕ

   Transliteration

   Wahum ʿalā mā yafʿaloona bialmumineena shuhoodun

   Translation

   And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.

8. 8 Al-Burooj 85:8

   وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ اِلَّٓا اَنْ يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللّٰهِ الْعَزٖيزِ الْحَمٖيدِۙ

   Transliteration

   Wamā naqamoo minhum illā an yuminoo biAllāhi alʿazeezi alḥameedi

   Translation

   And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,

9. 9 Al-Burooj 85:9

   اَلَّذٖي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمٰوَاتِ وَالْاَرْضِؕ وَاللّٰهُ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهٖيدٌؕ

   Transliteration

   Allathee lahu mulku alssamāwāti waalarḏi waAllāhu ʿalā kulli shayin shaheedun

   Translation

   To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.

10. 10 Al-Burooj 85:10

    اِنَّ الَّذٖينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنٖينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ الْحَرٖيقِؕ

    Transliteration

    Inna allatheena fatanoo almumineena waalmumināti thumma lam yatooboo falahum ʿathābu jahannama walahum ʿathābu alḥareeqi

    Translation

    Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.

11. 11 Al-Burooj 85:11

    اِنَّ الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرٖي مِنْ تَحْتِهَا الْاَنْهَارُؕ ذٰلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبٖيرُؕ

    Transliteration

    Inna allatheena āmanoo waʿamiloo alṣṣāliḥāti lahum jannātun tajree min taḥtihā alanhāru thālika alfawzu alkabeeru

    Translation

    Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.

12. 12 Al-Burooj 85:12

    اِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدٖيدٌؕ

    Transliteration

    Inna baṭsha rabbika lashadeedun

    Translation

    Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.

13. 13 Al-Burooj 85:13

    اِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعٖيدُۚ

    Transliteration

    Innahu huwa yubdio wayuʿeedu

    Translation

    Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.

14. 14 Al-Burooj 85:14

    وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُۙ

    Transliteration

    Wahuwa alghafooru alwadoodu

    Translation

    And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,

15. 15 Al-Burooj 85:15

    ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجٖيدُۙ

    Transliteration

    Thoo alʿarshi almajeedi

    Translation

    Honorable Owner of the Throne,

16. 16 Al-Burooj 85:16

    فَعَّالٌ لِمَا يُرٖيدُؕ

    Transliteration

    Faʿʿālun limā yureedu

    Translation

    Effecter of what He intends.

17. 17 Al-Burooj 85:17

    هَلْ اَتٰيكَ حَدٖيثُ الْجُنُودِۙ

    Transliteration

    Hal atāka ḥadeethu aljunoodi

    Translation

    Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -

18. 18 Al-Burooj 85:18

    فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَؕ

    Transliteration

    Firʿawna wathamooda

    Translation

    [Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud?

19. 19 Al-Burooj 85:19

    بَلِ الَّذٖينَ كَفَرُوا فٖي تَكْذٖيبٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Bali allatheena kafaroo fee taktheebin

    Translation

    But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,

20. 20 Al-Burooj 85:20

    وَاللّٰهُ مِنْ وَرَٓائِهِمْ مُحٖيطٌۚ

    Transliteration

    WaAllāhu min warāihim muḥeeṭun

    Translation

    While Allah encompasses them from behind.

21. 21 Al-Burooj 85:21

    بَلْ هُوَ قُرْاٰنٌ مَجٖيدٌۙ

    Transliteration

    Bal huwa qurānun majeedun

    Translation

    But this is an honored Qur'an

22. 22 Al-Burooj 85:22

    فٖي لَوْحٍ مَحْفُوظٍ

    Transliteration

    Fee lawḥin maḥfoothin

    Translation

    [Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.
