Surah Al-Lail in Arabic and English

1. 1 Al-Lail 92:1

   وَالَّيْلِ اِذَا يَغْشٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Waallayli ithā yaghshā

   Translation

   By the night when it covers

2. 2 Al-Lail 92:2

   وَالنَّهَارِ اِذَا تَجَلّٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Waalnnahāri ithā tajallā

   Translation

   And [by] the day when it appears

3. 3 Al-Lail 92:3

   وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْاُنْثٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Wamā khalaqa alththakara waalonthā

   Translation

   And [by] He who created the male and female,

4. 4 Al-Lail 92:4

   اِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتّٰىؕ

   Transliteration

   Inna saʿyakum lashattā

   Translation

   Indeed, your efforts are diverse.

5. 5 Al-Lail 92:5

   فَاَمَّا مَنْ اَعْطٰى وَاتَّقٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Faammā man aʿṭā waittaqā

   Translation

   As for he who gives and fears Allah

6. 6 Al-Lail 92:6

   وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Waṣaddaqa bialḥusnā

   Translation

   And believes in the best [reward],

7. 7 Al-Lail 92:7

   فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرٰىؕ

   Transliteration

   Fasanuyassiruhu lilyusrā

   Translation

   We will ease him toward ease.

8. 8 Al-Lail 92:8

   وَاَمَّا مَنْ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Waammā man bakhila waistaghnā

   Translation

   But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

9. 9 Al-Lail 92:9

   وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنٰىۙ

   Transliteration

   Wakaththaba bialḥusnā

   Translation

   And denies the best [reward],

10. 10 Al-Lail 92:10

    فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Fasanuyassiruhu lilʿusrā

    Translation

    We will ease him toward difficulty.

11. 11 Al-Lail 92:11

    وَمَا يُغْنٖي عَنْهُ مَالُـهُٓ اِذَا تَرَدّٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Wamā yughnee ʿanhu māluhu ithā taraddā

    Translation

    And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?

12. 12 Al-Lail 92:12

    اِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدٰىؗ

    Transliteration

    Inna ʿalaynā lalhudā

    Translation

    Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.

13. 13 Al-Lail 92:13

    وَاِنَّ لَنَا لَلْاٰخِرَةَ وَالْاُو۫لٰى

    Transliteration

    Wainna lanā lalākhirata waaloolā

    Translation

    And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].

14. 14 Al-Lail 92:14

    فَاَنْذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظّٰىۚ

    Transliteration

    Faanthartukum nāran talaththā

    Translation

    So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.

15. 15 Al-Lail 92:15

    لَا يَصْلٰيهَٓا اِلَّا الْاَشْقٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Lā yaṣlāhā illā alashqā

    Translation

    None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.

16. 16 Al-Lail 92:16

    اَلَّذٖي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّٰىؕ

    Transliteration

    Allathee kaththaba watawallā

    Translation

    Who had denied and turned away.

17. 17 Al-Lail 92:17

    وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْاَتْقٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Wasayujannabuhā alatqā

    Translation

    But the righteous one will avoid it -

18. 18 Al-Lail 92:18

    اَلَّذٖي يُؤْتٖي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكّٰىۚ

    Transliteration

    Allathee yutee mālahu yatazakkā

    Translation

    [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

19. 19 Al-Lail 92:19

    وَمَا لِاَحَدٍ عِنْدَهُ مِنْ نِعْمَةٍ تُجْزٰىۙ

    Transliteration

    Wamā liaḥadin ʿindahu min niʿmatin tujzā

    Translation

    And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

20. 20 Al-Lail 92:20

    اِلَّا ابْتِغَٓاءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْاَعْلٰىۚ

    Transliteration

    Illā ibtighāa wajhi rabbihi alaʿlā

    Translation

    But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.

21. 21 Al-Lail 92:21

    وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضٰى

    Transliteration

    Walasawfa yarḏā

    Translation

    And he is going to be satisfied.
