Surah Al-Mutaffifin in Arabic and English

1. 1 Al-Mutaffifin 83:1

   وَيْلٌ لِلْمُطَفِّفٖينَۙ

   Transliteration

   Waylun lilmuṭaffifeena

   Translation

   Woe to those who give less [than due],

2. 2 Al-Mutaffifin 83:2

   اَلَّذٖينَ اِذَا اكْتَالُوا عَلَى النَّاسِ يَسْتَوْفُونَؗ

   Transliteration

   Allatheena ithā iktāloo ʿalā alnnāsi yastawfoona

   Translation

   Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full.

3. 3 Al-Mutaffifin 83:3

   وَاِذَا كَالُوهُمْ اَوْ وَزَنُوهُمْ يُخْسِرُونَؕ

   Transliteration

   Waithā kāloohum aw wazanoohum yukhsiroona

   Translation

   But if they give by measure or by weight to them, they cause loss.

4. 4 Al-Mutaffifin 83:4

   اَلَا يَظُنُّ اُو۬لٰٓئِكَ اَنَّهُمْ مَبْعُوثُونَۙ

   Transliteration

   Alā yathunnu olāika annahum mabʿoothoona

   Translation

   Do they not think that they will be resurrected

5. 5 Al-Mutaffifin 83:5

   لِيَوْمٍ عَظٖيمٍۙ

   Transliteration

   Liyawmin ʿatheemin

   Translation

   For a tremendous Day -

6. 6 Al-Mutaffifin 83:6

   يَوْمَ يَقُومُ النَّاسُ لِرَبِّ الْعَالَمٖينَؕ

   Transliteration

   Yawma yaqoomu alnnāsu lirabbi alʿālameena

   Translation

   The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds?

7. 7 Al-Mutaffifin 83:7

   كَلَّٓا اِنَّ كِتَابَ الْفُجَّارِ لَفٖي سِجّٖينٍؕ

   Transliteration

   Kallā inna kitāba alfujjāri lafee sijjeenin

   Translation

   No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen.

8. 8 Al-Mutaffifin 83:8

   وَمَٓا اَدْرٰيكَ مَا سِجّٖينٌؕ

   Transliteration

   Wamā adrāka mā sijjeenun

   Translation

   And what can make you know what is sijjeen?

9. 9 Al-Mutaffifin 83:9

   كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌؕ

   Transliteration

   Kitābun marqoomun

   Translation

   It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed.

10. 10 Al-Mutaffifin 83:10

    وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبٖينَۙ

    Transliteration

    Waylun yawmaithin lilmukaththibeena

    Translation

    Woe, that Day, to the deniers,

11. 11 Al-Mutaffifin 83:11

    اَلَّذٖينَ يُكَذِّبُونَ بِيَوْمِ الدّٖينِؕ

    Transliteration

    Allatheena yukaththiboona biyawmi alddeeni

    Translation

    Who deny the Day of Recompense.

12. 12 Al-Mutaffifin 83:12

    وَمَا يُكَذِّبُ بِهٖٓ اِلَّا كُلُّ مُعْتَدٍ اَثٖيمٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Wamā yukaththibu bihi illā kullu muʿtadin atheemin

    Translation

    And none deny it except every sinful transgressor.

13. 13 Al-Mutaffifin 83:13

    اِذَا تُتْلٰى عَلَيْهِ اٰيَاتُنَا قَالَ اَسَاطٖيرُ الْاَوَّلٖينَؕ

    Transliteration

    Ithā tutlā ʿalayhi āyātunā qāla asāṭeeru alawwaleena

    Translation

    When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples."

14. 14 Al-Mutaffifin 83:14

    كَلَّا بَلْ رَࣝانَ عَلٰى قُلُوبِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا يَكْسِبُونَ

    Transliteration

    Kallā bal rāna ʿalā quloobihim mā kānoo yaksiboona

    Translation

    No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.

15. 15 Al-Mutaffifin 83:15

    كَلَّٓا اِنَّهُمْ عَنْ رَبِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ لَمَحْجُوبُونَؕ

    Transliteration

    Kallā innahum ʿan rabbihim yawmaithin lamaḥjooboona

    Translation

    No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned.

16. 16 Al-Mutaffifin 83:16

    ثُمَّ اِنَّهُمْ لَصَالُوا الْجَحٖيمِؕ

    Transliteration

    Thumma innahum laṣāloo aljaḥeemi

    Translation

    Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire.

17. 17 Al-Mutaffifin 83:17

    ثُمَّ يُقَالُ هٰذَا الَّذٖي كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُونَؕ

    Transliteration

    Thumma yuqālu hāthā allathee kuntum bihi tukaththiboona

    Translation

    Then it will be said [to them], "This is what you used to deny."

18. 18 Al-Mutaffifin 83:18

    كَلَّٓا اِنَّ كِتَابَ الْاَبْرَارِ لَفٖي عِلِّيّٖينَؕ

    Transliteration

    Kallā inna kitāba alabrāri lafee ʿilliyyeena

    Translation

    No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun.

19. 19 Al-Mutaffifin 83:19

    وَمَٓا اَدْرٰيكَ مَا عِلِّيُّونَؕ

    Transliteration

    Wamā adrāka mā ʿilliyyoona

    Translation

    And what can make you know what is 'illiyyun?

20. 20 Al-Mutaffifin 83:20

    كِتَابٌ مَرْقُومٌۙ

    Transliteration

    Kitābun marqoomun

    Translation

    It is [their destination recorded in] a register inscribed

21. 21 Al-Mutaffifin 83:21

    يَشْهَدُهُ الْمُقَرَّبُونَؕ

    Transliteration

    Yashhaduhu almuqarraboona

    Translation

    Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah].

22. 22 Al-Mutaffifin 83:22

    اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ لَفٖي نَعٖيمٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Inna alabrāra lafee naʿeemin

    Translation

    Indeed, the righteous will be in pleasure

23. 23 Al-Mutaffifin 83:23

    عَلَى الْاَرَٓائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    ʿalā alarāiki yanthuroona

    Translation

    On adorned couches, observing.

24. 24 Al-Mutaffifin 83:24

    تَعْرِفُ فٖي وُجُوهِهِمْ نَضْرَةَ النَّعٖيمِۚ

    Transliteration

    Taʿrifu fee wujoohihim naḏrata alnnaʿeemi

    Translation

    You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure.

25. 25 Al-Mutaffifin 83:25

    يُسْقَوْنَ مِنْ رَحٖيقٍ مَخْتُومٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Yusqawna min raḥeeqin makhtoomin

    Translation

    They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed.

26. 26 Al-Mutaffifin 83:26

    خِتَامُهُ مِسْكٌؕ وَفٖي ذٰلِكَ فَلْيَتَنَافَسِ الْمُتَنَافِسُونَؕ

    Transliteration

    Khitāmuhu miskun wafee thālika falyatanāfasi almutanāfisoona

    Translation

    The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete.

27. 27 Al-Mutaffifin 83:27

    وَمِزَاجُهُ مِنْ تَسْنٖيمٍۙ

    Transliteration

    Wamizājuhu min tasneemin

    Translation

    And its mixture is of Tasneem,

28. 28 Al-Mutaffifin 83:28

    عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَۜ

    Transliteration

    ʿaynan yashrabu bihā almuqarraboona

    Translation

    A spring from which those near [to Allah] drink.

29. 29 Al-Mutaffifin 83:29

    اِنَّ الَّذٖينَ اَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَؗ

    Transliteration

    Inna allatheena ajramoo kānoo mina allatheena āmanoo yaḏḥakoona

    Translation

    Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed.

30. 30 Al-Mutaffifin 83:30

    وَاِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَؗ

    Transliteration

    Waithā marroo bihim yataghāmazoona

    Translation

    And when they passed by them, they would exchange derisive glances.

31. 31 Al-Mutaffifin 83:31

    وَاِذَا انْقَلَـبُٓوا اِلٰٓى اَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوا فَكِهٖينَؗ

    Transliteration

    Waithā inqalaboo ilā ahlihimu inqalaboo fakiheena

    Translation

    And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting.

32. 32 Al-Mutaffifin 83:32

    وَاِذَا رَاَوْهُمْ قَالُٓوا اِنَّ هٰٓؤُ۬لَٓاءِ لَضَٓالُّونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Waithā raawhum qāloo inna hāolāi laḏālloona

    Translation

    And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost."

33. 33 Al-Mutaffifin 83:33

    وَمَٓا اُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظٖينَؕ

    Transliteration

    Wamā orsiloo ʿalayhim ḥāfitheena

    Translation

    But they had not been sent as guardians over them.

34. 34 Al-Mutaffifin 83:34

    فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذٖينَ اٰمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَۙ

    Transliteration

    Faalyawma allatheena āmanoo mina alkuffāri yaḏḥakoona

    Translation

    So Today those who believed are laughing at the disbelievers,

35. 35 Al-Mutaffifin 83:35

    عَلَى الْاَرَٓائِكِۙ يَنْظُرُونَؕ

    Transliteration

    ʿalā alarāiki yanthuroona

    Translation

    On adorned couches, observing.

36. 36 Al-Mutaffifin 83:36

    هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ

    Transliteration

    Hal thuwwiba alkuffāru mā kānoo yafʿaloona

    Translation

    Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do?
